AMS Baeshen was established some eighty years ago, as a family concern trading in a wide range of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) in Saudi Arabia, headquartered in Jeddah. The Company currently employees over 550 employees and is expected to have over 600 by the end of the year. The Company is managed by a team of professionals who combine the discipline and training of multinational companies with the entrepreneurial and results oriented culture of a privately owned company. The management team is composed of executives who possess a long record of accomplishment with multinationals.
The Company pursued a strategy of vertical integration with operations covering tea buying, blending, packing, distribution, selling and marketing. This direction has led the Company to developing, marketing and distributing its own brands rather than be restricted to being a mere distributor. In 1994, the Company embarked upon a major investment and expansion program. Part of this strategy included the building of a factory covering tea buying, blending, and packing. The Company manufactures all its range of tea products in its factory in Jeddah. The factory sits on 32,000 m2 and is one of the most advanced and largest tea factories in the Middle East and houses more than 15 production lines (with expansion already in the plan of a further 4 lines by 2009) and a state of the art tea lab facility. The factory is also ISO 9000- 2000, HACCP and Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) certified. The Company also heavily invests in technology, including implementation of the full Oracle suite of applications, with the first module being implemented back in 1998.
