Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, or other enterprise database platforms.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies for improved efficiency.
- Manage and optimize database schemas, indexes, partitions, and storage structures.
- Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning.
- Ensure database security by implementing best practices, access control, and encryption policies.
- Create and maintain database documentation, including architecture diagrams and SOPs.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues related to performance, replication, or corruption.
- Support development teams by optimizing queries, stored procedures, and data models.
- Configure and manage high availability and replication solutions (AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Mirroring, RAC, etc.).
- Perform database upgrades, patching, and migration activities.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, retention, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience as a DBA.
- Hands-on experience with:
- SQL Server / Oracle / MySQL / PostgreSQL
- Performance tuning and query optimization
- Backup and recovery solutions
- High availability and disaster recovery configurations
- Database security best practices
- Strong knowledge of T-SQL, PL/SQL, or other query languages.
- Experience with cloud database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator
- Oracle Database Certified Professional (OCP)
- AWS/Azure database certifications
- ITIL certification (optional)
