- Develop/ direct and maintain Safety Manual to provide a high level of Occupational Health and Safety Control including the development of incident prevention methods/ procedures and programs.- Maintain a current knowledge of all applicable statutory safety and occupational health standards and co-ordinate the application of such requirements throughout the operations. Revising as necessary the Safety Manual.- To keep Project Manager and Construction Manager continuously advised of methods to improve safety awareness on the project/ incident prevention and is responsible for providing training.- Promote Occupational Health and Safety Awareness- Review and assess any foreseeable risk arising from the workplace or work processes and make recommendation to mitigate risks identified- Develop Project Specific Safety Programs incorporating Client requirements. - Ensure effectiveness of the Safety programs in all areas of operations and advise the Project Manager of safety matters requiring action.- Advise the Project Manager as soon as possible of any incident. - Investigating and reporting on all incidents/ injuries and occupational health cases. - Determine causes of incidents to avoid future reoccurrence- Prepare/ review and maintain of Safety Control records and statistical data.- Develop and monitor a systematic training program in Safety for all employees.- Liaise with site contractors on all occupational health and safety matters.- Perform and arrange for contractor employees site safety orientation. - Coordinate site safety activities with contractors. - Ensure appropriate emergency response capabilities (fire/ ambulance).- Ensure that complete site safety plan/files are maintained. - Conduct/attend weekly safety meetings. - Conduct site inspections and review site activities for potential hazards. - Check PPE and other safety equipment for contractor use.
