Role of Protection Design Engineer Performing review of system protection schemes and recommend upgrade as applicable, (Cross Checking with SEC PTS "Project Technical Specification", Standards and other International Standards) and technical consultation and support in matters relating to system protection, Preparation of Comments on Designer/Manufacturer’s Equipment/Material Proposal, Technical Submittals, Project Design Activities, Monitoring & Control the Designer/Manufacturer’s Activities, Reviews on MOM under supervision and instructions of the Division Manager, Protection Engineering Division – WOA, Protection Engineering Department.
Being a Transmission Protection Design Engineer my major responsibilities are:
Reviewing 380kV, 132kV, 110kV, 33kV & 13.8kV Relay & Metering one line diagram, Protection Relay list, TFR point list and SAS signals list with SEC standard, SOW & PTS.
Design review of all Protection schemes i.e. 380kV Line, 110kV line, 380kV & 110kV Busbar, 502MVA to 67MVA Transformers, 150MVAR to 80MVAR Reactors and 13.8kV Switchgears.
Review and reply to contractor's(For Example: ABB, Siemens and Alstom) Technical offers, Pre-bid and Post bid clarifications.
Reviewing Detail designs documents/ drawings i.e. DTS ( Data Technical Specification) of all Protection etc.
Monitor quality control procedures during design and construction phases of the project. Responsibilities included checking and verifying that project work meets the specified IEC and all applicable codes and standard.
Verification of project Scope, site visits, participating in design activities, meetings and resolving overall design/project execution issues.
Supervise the design, construction, activities for their timely completion according to schedule. Issue instructions and implementation resource enhancement to meet the schedule mile stone dates.
