We can hear music on the radio, over speakers in the supermarket, and on street corners when musicians play. For people who are deaf, there is a common misconception that they cannot enjoy music. This is not the case. The way that they experience music is different than the way hearing people experience music, but they can still enjoy it in a full capacity. Since people who are deaf lack one of the five senses, their other senses, through brain plasticity, work together to make up for the loss of hearing</p> <p>Dance: uMost people, when asked, wouldn’t consider dance as a possible hobby for the Deaf or hard of hearing. On the contrary, dance has become a very popular pastime for many in the Deaf community. It is thought that dance has a great deal of therapeutic value, especially for the Deaf or hard of hearing. It not only a way to express emotions, but also a technique to release stress. Dance creates a healthy environment in which to express fears, explore, feelings and question beliefs -- activities that have been shown as beneficial to people regardless of hearing ability (World). It also expands their social connections, contributing to overall mental, physical and emotional health. </p> uTo step on beat, you don't need to "hear" in the traditional way. That's what the members of percussion/dance touring company of STOMP learned when they visited Gallaudet University in Washington, <p>painting: Deaf culture art is more than just a painting or a drawing. It brings the Deaf community together. Deaf culture art puts the feelings that many Deaf people experience on canvas</p> <p>All of these positive and negative life experiences of the Deaf can and have been expressed through Deaf Art. The effects of the world on the Deaf can clearly be seen in how Deaf artists express themselves on canvas.</p> <p>Photography</p> <p>Theater:uSome Deaf people have enough satisfactory sound perception with or without hearing aids/BAHA/CI that they prefer to watch movies in the theatre without assistance since movies are fairly loud. Others who have some sound perception may use an amplification device. These look like a pair of headphones with a little radio that usually goes around your neck. It provides the movie sound to you directly through the headset, and you can turn the volume up or down on your own.
