- Drilling Engineer
- Develops, plans and costs drilling activities. A Drilling Engineer can be involved throughout the lifecycle of a well, from the initial design through to its abandonment.
- Typial Day/Duties.
- Plans drilling programme
- Designs the well
- Co-ordinates the work of offshore drilling teams
- Analyses drilling performance and factors affecting cost and efficiency
- Prepares budget and monitors costs
- How this role fits in with the rest of the industry.
- Works closely with other technical departments to drill for oil and gas in new or existing fields. A Drilling Engineer can be employed onshore or offshore, either working for an operator, a service company, a specialist drilling contractor or a consultancy.
- Basic entry requirements include (necessary)
- Relevant degree in science or engineering
- Should be willing to travel offshore
