The Laboratory Equipment Engineer is responsible for the complete lifecycle of laboratory equipment, including decommissioning, dismantling, packaging, transferring to a new site, re-installation, and commissioning. This role involves meticulous planning, scheduling, execution, and validation of all equipment-related activities while ensuring strict compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, and execute the decommissioning, dismantling, packaging, transferring to a new site, re-installation, and commissioning & validation of laboratory equipment.
- Skilfully decommission, dismantle, package, and transfer laboratory equipment and machinery to the new site.
- Expertly re-install and commission laboratory equipment and machinery in the new site, ensuring optimal performance.
- Ensure that all equipment handling processes meet the highest safety standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with research scientists to guarantee the proper decommissioning and re-installation of laboratory equipment.
- Develop and oversee equipment maintenance schedules, ensuring that all laboratory equipment remains in optimal working condition.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of laboratory equipment and spare parts, and order replacements as needed.
- Implement energy-efficient practices and technologies to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in equipment installation and maintenance procedures.
- Lead and oversee larger-scale projects involving the installation or relocation of multiple laboratory setups, coordinating timelines, resources, and personnel.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the financial implications of equipment replacement, upgrades, or repairs.
- Thoroughly document all decommissioning, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Strictly adhere to all safety regulations and secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Efficiently manage budgets and schedules for equipment installation projects.
- Conduct thorough safety inspections and implement necessary improvements.
- Train personnel on the operation of new equipment and systems.
- Maintain meticulous records and documentation of all equipment-related processes.
- Any other tasks requested by the Line Manager
Skills:
- 5 years of experience at least in laboratory equipment decommissioning, installation, and commissioning.
Strong understanding of laboratory equipment and machinery, including but not limited to the following:

- High Throughput Reactor System
- Ethylene Gas Chromatography Unit
- HPLC
- PID Reactor (Methane Aromatization Reactor)
- CSTR Titanium Reactor
- Field Emission Microscope
- Gas-Phase Reactor
- AP-Mini Plant Slurry-Phase Reactor
- Differential Scanning Calorimeter
- Ion Chromatography System

- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
