Majid Al Futtaim welcomes chefs, based in KSA, to apply to our exciting culinary positions at our new cinemas in KSA that will open shortly.

WHO WE ARE:

Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, also known as VOX cinemas, is the fastest-growing, leading cinema chain in Saudi Arabia. We have recently opened the first ever public cinema in Riyadh Park, Saudi Arabia. We have an ambitious vision to launch many more cinemas across Saudi Arabia with the potential to hire seasoned professionals.

WHO WE WANT:

We are looking for chefs with the highest degree of professionalism to manage our cinemas’ kitchens in KSA and follow the executive chef’s specifications, instructions, and guidelines. Sous Chef

Role Purpose:

Responsible for managing the kitchen operations for the assigned cinema site and leading the culinary team.  This person is accountable for the kitchen's inventory; financials including food cost, consumables; training and development of the culinary team; food & hygiene and health & safety, to deliver consistent quality, whilst enhancing customer experience.

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Supervision, development and performance management of all culinary staff.

• Maintain good morale within the kitchen to promote a successful team.

• Attend weekly meetings with the Executive Chef to review business and customer feedback for the week, and plan kitchen operations, staffing, training, development, menu development, and any upcoming events for the following week. 

• Maintain the cleanliness, food handling and food safety regulations on a daily basis

• To ensure smooth daily operations and food quality consistent with VOX Standards.

• Inspection of food stores and individual sections of the kitchen to maintain MEP and First In First Out stock rotation systems.

• Ensure staff personal hygiene standards are met and maintained.

• Maintain a logbook for the kitchen, outlining the duties and tasks for the following day, Mise En Place, any issues or upcoming events and trainings.

• To offer alternatives or make necessary changes to menu items, based on special dietary needs and requirements of guests.

• To ensure that preparations for food are done with the highest regard to maximum yield and minimum wastage in accordance with the food cost targets to maximize revenue.

• Ensure up-to-date product knowledge, including dietary types of all foods, plating, cooking methods. Ensure that the same product knowledge is imparted to the culinary team.

• Liaising with Executive Chef, Line Staff, FOH Service Staff, Restaurant Manager, Cinema Manager

Chef De Partie

Role Purpose:

To oversee the back of house operations of the VOX Premium cinema product and manage the shift and staff.  Responsible for the quality of all food and beverages served including the health and safety, presentation, timing of delivery and temperature.

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• To uphold culinary standards in the daily operations

• Where applicable, assist the Sous Chef with stock rotation and inventory checks.

• To ensure hygiene policies are met.

• To support the Commis Chefs when needed with training and on the job assistance.

• Give clear instructions to the cooks you are responsible for and check understanding.

• Develop solid working relationship with the FOH team and other departments.

• Report issues or staffing problems to the appropriate manager.

• Ensuring the maintenance of the cleanliness and food handling procedures.

• Delegate tasks for the following day’s operation and necessary MEP.

• Be involved with training and succession plans for staff.

• Receive orders from purchasing and understand the quality of produce allowed to enter into the kitchen.  Not to receive any produce that is below our standards.

• Assist with any tasks delegated by the manager and participate in activities outside of normal duties with other departments as reasonably requested by your manager/s.

• Ability to work under pressure and run the kitchen.  Kitchen management and time management are important.

• Liaising with Commis chefs, Senior food production management and Other departments (stewarding, FOH, cleaning)

Demi Chef De Partie

Role Purpose:

Assisting the Chef De Partie in overseeing the back of house operations of the VOX Premium cinema product and manage the shift and staff.  Responsible for the quality of all food and beverages served including the health and safety, presentation, timing of delivery and temperature.

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• To uphold culinary standards in the daily operations

• Where applicable, assist with stock rotation and inventory checks.

• To ensure hygiene policies are met.

• To support the Commis Chefs when needed with training and on the job assistance.

• Give clear instructions to the cooks you are responsible for and check understanding.

• Develop solid working relationship with the FOH team and other departments.

• Report issues or staffing problems to the appropriate manager.

• Ensure the maintenance of the cleanliness and food handling procedures.

• Attention to detail while multi-tasking under pressure is essential.

Qualification and Experience required

• Demonstrated two years of experience in a similar Chef position to the one which you are applying (e.g 2 years of experience as              Chef De Partie if you're applying for the Chef de Partie).

• Strong understanding of HACCP food safety standards.

• Completed a Chef training course or culinary training for a minimum of one year.

•       Strong work ethic and a "can do" attitude.

•       Able and willing to work a rotating roster that includes weekends and public holidays.

•       Comfortable to travel to the UAE for training purposes if necessary.
