Health and Safety Manager - Facility Management

Our client, a facilities management company on a large commercial facility project requires a Health & Safety Manager to join them on a permanent residential basis in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The company will operate a health and safety management system based on the principles set out in the internationally recognised Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001 and HSG 65 - Successful Health and Safety Management. The role of the Health & Safety Manager is to develop and review the framework for health safety and environment management systems for implementation by FMD and the business. This will aim to ensure that all accountabilities, responsibilities and obligations placed on the organization and its directors and officers by legislation, corporate governance requirements and the Health and Safety policy are met. As a member of the management team this position requires a thorough knowledge and familiarity with the relevant safety legislation and current company health and safety policies and procedures whilst keeping up to date with and aware of any changes to such.

The Health & Safety Manager offers informed knowledge, skill and direction in order to encourage and promote a positive health and safety culture whilst providing a wider management function to the project safety team. This represents a fundamental role in managing and controlling occupational risk, minimising operational losses, occupational health problems and accidents and injuries whilst mitigating the company's risk of litigation.

Suitable candidates will have 10+ years’ work experience in health and safety and or risk management environment working at a management level with a technical diploma in health & safety or fire/engineering/chemical/science discipline, be a Chartered Safety Practitioner with NEBOSH (National Examining Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or OSHA (Occupational of Safety and Health Administration) or International / National Safety Council Qualification’s at Diploma level. Professional Membership, by examination, to a recognised Safety Institution. Knowledge/experience of Risk Management and Auditing environments.
