Marine Engineers design, build, test and repair boats, ships, remote operated vehicles, offshore platforms and drill ships.
Typial Day/Duties.
Responsible for the design of offshore rigs, pipelines and equipment
Plan and oversee the building and commissioning of projects
Examine the reliability and integrity of vessels and offshore installations looking at their sea worthiness, safety and maintenance
Responsible for the management of all planned maintenance tasks and also unscheduled repairs that may be required on plant and machinery
Manage the project lifecycle and keep the Client informed
Liaise with all suppliers and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of the project
Ensures that knowledge is kept up to date

This role provides a specialised skill set to the Oil and Gas Industry no matter which discipline the individual specialises in (dynamic positioning, shipping/ vessels, design, Floating Production Storage Offshore (FPSO). This knowledge is vital to the industry to ensure that technical standards are maintained and excellence is sought at every opportunity.
Basic entry requirements include (necessary)
BTEC HNC/HND or degree in an engineering subject
Employers might also look for (desirable)
Training as an engineering officer with the Merchant Navy or Royal Navy
