Geophysicist
Geophysicists interpret seismic data to create maps of the build up of hydrocarbons and they also study the physical properties of rocks. Geophysicists gather and evaluate well data that helps build reservoir models to predict the potential flow from the reservoir.
Typial Day/Duties.
Designs data acquisition plans
Interprets seismic data to create maps
Measures reservoir volumes
Assesses potential oil and gas yield
How this role fits in with the rest of the industry.
Works closely with other technical departments to find and extract oil and gas from existing fields as well as searching for potential new targets. Mainly employed by Operators or Consultancy firms.
Basic entry requirements include (necessary)
Degree in relevant physical science subject e.g. geology, geophysics, geochemistry.

Related fieldwork or research trips
Typical starting salary may be in the region of
