a) To device policies and procedures to meet the event of fire, with special reference to raising the alarm, immediate fire-fighting, and fire evacuation plan for hospital, patients and staff.
b) To ensure that there is a sufficient provision of fire-fighting equipment throughout the hospital.
c) In the event of fire, to take command of the hospital fire-fighting team and facilities, liaising with other senior managers present at the scene.
d) To identify potential fire and safety hazards throughout the hospital.
e) To plan and coordinate the holding of regular fire-drills throughout the hospital, for all hospital staff.
f) To plan and implement a plan for regular fire-fighting equipment, and to ensure the implementation of planned preventive maintenance for all such equipment, including the regular top-up of fire extinguishers.
g) To maintain an inventory of all fire-fighting equipment, and to ensure the implementation of planned preventive maintenance for all such equipment, including the regular top-up of fire extinguishers.
h) To maintain a log of all fires or fire-related incidents.
i) To compile reports on all fires or fire-related incidents.
j) To compile reports on all incidents or accidents that resulted from unsafe working practices or conditions, defective equipment, and to make recommendations to the hospital administration on remedial action.
k) To maintain links with, and represent the Al-Emeis Hospital to the Civil Defense Fire Authorities.
l) Supports and shares in departmental and hospital wide Continuous Quality Improvement activities. Support to develop and promote appropriate standards of care /service according to Al-Emeis policies & procedures.
m) Performs other duties as assigned by his (her) Superior /Hospital Management.
