Policies, Processes & Procedures
§ Monitor adherence to departmental policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of accounting so that relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled
Budget
§ Consolidate the budget and monitor financial performance in business units versus the budget so that the group is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon
Financing
§ Receive and review financing requests from the business units and verify that it adheres to budgets and to a list of approved parameters before forwarding the request to the financing department
Bank Coordination
§ Coordinate with banks to open accounts for the business units, including payroll accounts
§ Update status and relevant information of accounts continuously in coordination with the relevant business unit, ensure provision of all required document and seek required authorisations to ensure compliance of all activities with approved policies and procedures
§ Follow up on all dispute related issues with the banks in coordination with the investment department in order to preserve the group’s best interest
Accounting Support
§ Verify insured assets against the book of accounts and follow-up on the resolution of any identified problematic area
§ Coordinate with internal audit to conduct any special investigation or review necessary to resolve problematic areas based on accounts reports
§ Coordinate with external audit to ensure the validation of financial statements and the receipt of a Zakat certificate
Change Management
§ Support the management of change through continuous recommendations for the improvement of accounting systems, processes and practices based on identified areas of improvement
Reporting
§ Manage the consolidation of weekly reports highlighting what the bank positions of business units
§ Consolidate summaries of financial statements for all business units to inform management of the financial condition of the group when needed
