Promote a safe work environment by ensuring that HSE systems are developed, implemented and maintained
Facilitate the successful delivery of HSE programs within all business unit departments
Pro-actively identify and mitigate key HSE risks across the business unit
Responsibilities and Deliverables:
Identify relevant local HSE legislation and educate business unit management on obligations and compliance requirements – report to business unit management actual and interpretive changes in local HSE legislation
Provide initial liaison with relevant local authorities and communicate with relevant stakeholders
Create and implement HSE Management Systems in line with the General Managers vision for HSE, legal and International Standard requirements
Create the tools to deliver HSE Management Systems compliance, i.e. forms, inspections, toolbox talks, presentations, etc
Facilitate the successful implementation and compliance monitoring of high / fatal consequence risk controls
Mentor business unit senior management to participate in the leadership of HSE Management Systems, i.e. encouragement of the importance of HSE to their frontline managers through to employees
Create HSE performance measures and targets plus measure compliance
Use HSE data collected to conduct statistical analysis of performance to identify opportunities for improvement
Create and complete HSE reports both business unit specific and Corporate, designed to both educate business unit management and highlight opportunities for improvement
Lead the investigation of high – extreme risk near miss, environmental, LTI and potential fatality incidents
Champion / coordinate medium to large HSE improvement projects
Facilitate with business unit management the creation and implementation of emergency response processes
Skills and Capabilities:
Initiative and ability to work with minimum to no supervision
Ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels within the organization
Ability to lead / mentor workgroups and individuals
Ability to manage direct reports, create training plans and appropriately delegate tasks
Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to recognize issues, analyze, formulate and implement appropriate solutions
Excellent computer literacy, report writing and administrative skills
Time management skills (able to work on a number of projects with varying priorities)
Qualifications and Knowledge:
Intermediate to professional level HSE qualification – some examples are;
NEBOSH International General Certificate In Occupational Safety and Health ********************************************
NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety http:********************************************
NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management http:********************************************
Experience in the development and management of HSE systems and implementation of projects
Experience in leading injury, near miss and chemical spill incident investigations
Experience in managing injury management processes
