Purpose of the Job (Overall accountability)
• To conduct the engineering design work such as designing the load engineering and movement of oversize cargo, drawings for load planning, route-movement simulations etc. using Auto-CAD software.
Principal responsibilities / accountabilities
• Adheres to objectives for engineering department in accordance with the overall delivery standards, efficiency and cost.
• Adheres to the targets set for the engineering department in terms of on-time and error-free (to avoid potential accident / delay due to faulty design).
• Reads design specification document and develops a thorough understanding of the client requirements, the nature of the oversize cargo, and the characteristics of the route.
• Designs engineering drawings on CAD for the project planning phase, which includes, designing the load engineering, design for movement of oversize cargo, drawings for load planning, and simulating the route to gauge the feasibility of the design.
• Selects most appropriate trailers to be used to carry the cargo and mounts the CAD design on the trailers.
• Simulates the route to be taken to transport the oversize cargo, carefully takes into account any obstacles which could be encountered en-route.
• Submits draft design​/​s in line with the RFQ specifications / clients’ requirement to the Chief Engineer MHL within the time allocated for the task.
• Carries out load studies as per project requirements / client specifications.
• Assists in the development of novel load engineering techniques as required in order to improve the efficiency and quality of operations.
• Updates knowledge of CAD and continuously attends training courses and seminars to enrich skills and knowledge.
• Follows procedures of reporting on performance, budgets and other reports required from time to time to the Chief Engineer – MHL.

Skills

Experience​/​s
• Graduate Degree in Engineering
• Trained in the use of Auto-CAD
• 4-6 years experience in design engineering of a reputed organization engaged in Heavy Lift and/or Materials Handling.
