Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Multiple elimination is an important process in the processing of seismic reflection data. Modern techniques firmly rooted to wave equation principles (SRME, etc.) are becoming the norm in the E&P industry. However, their applicability in land datasets is not always straightforward and requires innovative thinking and approaches. Company EXPEC Advanced Research Center (EXPEC ARC) is looking for a dynamic research geophysicist to work in the general area of seismic imaging with specific emphasis in the multiple elimination technology. The successful candidate is expected to do the following: combine and exploit conventional methodologies (Radon, etc.) for the processing of seismic reflection data, propose and investigate new and practical approaches for the identification and subsequent attenuation of both surface-related and internal multiples, research unconventional technologies related to both surface & internal multiples and develop production algorithms for use in the analysis of land and marine reflection seismic data, and report/present within Company as well as in international conferences & publications.
Skills
SELECTION CRITERIA: Ph.D. in Geophysics or related subject (Physics or Mathematics). Excellent programming knowledge (C, C++, etc.) on a modern computing environment (Linux). 10 or more years of relevant industry research / industry experience related to the processing of seismic reflection data is desirable but not a must. Effective communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in multi-disciplinary research teams. Results- oriented with plenty of enthusiasm and a keen interest in applied research. Ability to travel internationally. Mentor young researchers.
