1.0 REPORTS TO: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
2.0 RESPONSIBLE FOR: The reporting managers and their delegates. In the assigned portfolio. Indirectly is responsible for all staff working within the portfolio. May relieve the other Divisional Directors or Deputy Divisional Director (DDDN) thus assuming those responsibilities
3.0 JOB SUMMARY:
Provides direct management and clinical supervision of the assigned division. Directs program development, standards of nursing practice, and resource utilization seeing that all are in keeping with the direction and development plans of the Nursing Department and related policies of the Hospital. Supervises and evaluates the day-to-day utilization of resources and achievement of standards targets in the division. Coordinates and facilitates the implementation of the PI and educational plan within assigned units/services. Provides continuity of services and mentorship to the Managers in their responses to day-to-day issues and unit operations. Works closely with members of the interdisciplinary teams to promote excellent patient care standards, satisfying customer service and a rewarding workplace. Provides administrative support for assigned functions of the CNO by communicating effectively with the CNO on operational, patient safety, patient satisfaction issues, resource dilemma, and improvement actions and on implementing strategic objectives keeping her advised of progress and developments
Contributes to the development of the Department as an integrated whole
Performs other tasks and duties within the scope of the knowledge, skills, and experience required for the job, as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
4.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees the functioning of Deputy Divisional Director, as appropriate, Managers/Assistant Managers, Charge nurses, clinical support nurses and liaises with the educators to direct division′s nursing staff in the performance of their duties and adherence to appropriate standards of
practice
Serves as the primary channel through which timely communication on daily issues is channeled to and from the Divisional Directors and Nursing Supervisors.
Develops and recommends to the CNO, annual objectives for the portfolio taking action on and reporting the progress and outcomes of those which are approved.
Co-ordinates Division′s resources in accordance with SSH policy and Nursing internal procedure, collaborating with the CNO for development of the Operational Department plan for Nursing Administration Committee annually.
Directs the assignment/reassignment of nurses to various units within the portfolio, advising the nursing leadership. Discusses intra-divisional reassignment with the Divisional Directors before processing it for approval for the CNO
Monitors compliance with the performance appraisal process guiding and developing Managers in the process, reviewing problems early to develop staff′s professional standards.
Provides the co-ordination with the Managers and educators for ongoing development of nursing personnel working the other Divisional Directors when significant changes re needed.
Edu:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Holds, on hire, a current Nursing license of good standing in country of origin
Minimum BScN; Master's degree preferred and enrollment in a Masters in Health Science or Business Program within first year of employment will be required
Eligibility for Saudi licensure is essential as is maintenance of same during tenure
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years progressive leadership and management experience with demonstrated success with multi-unit management responsibilities and program development experiences
Most recent 2 of the last 3 years of leadership must be in direct leadership role in a regional or tertiary care hospital
For MOH purposes, there is no break in experience in the 2 years
immediate pre-hire.
Experience in both management and education preferred.
For specialty areas clinical expertise preferred.
Fluent in both written and spoken English
Computer literate and sound knowledge internet use
Evidence of being current in nursing affairs
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Experience in multicultural environment is an asset
Experience with some form of hospital accreditation
