Job Description
To coordinate implementation of the company HSE policies, Safety Management System and Project/location specific Safety Management Plans as they apply to the location. Specific Objectives:
Implement the location HSE safety strategy.
Assist the Regional HSE Manager with the implementation of the Regional HSE strategy
Ensure safety accountabilities are identified, implemented, monitored and continuous improvement processes adopted.
Develop and maintain Statistical data and location reports.
Prepare reports as required for the HSE Manager.
Help review company Safety Management System and advise of required changes.
· Pro-actively do site visits and implement safety measures-promote/ensure safe work practices
· Ensure quality Advanced Safety Auditing is implemented and maintained on each site/project and ensure follow up on findings
· Identify & manage hazards &potential incidents
· Assist construction management personnel in identifying hazards and in planning and organising the job such that a safe working environment is maintained.
· Assist Safety advisors and site management in the development and revision of specific site safety programs.
· Make recommendations, promote training, offer advice and liaise with personnel on a continuing basis regarding health, safety and the environment.
· Establish and maintain statistical data concerning all matters of health and safety, training programs with which to provide a basis for further health and safety activities, to highlight trends for future action and to monitor and prepare regular reports of the business area’s performance.
· Visit sites on a regular basis to ensure interest and awareness of HS&E are maintained, conduct regular safety talks and safety training sessions as required by the type of existing work and working environment which exists on site.
· Promote and help co-ordinate activities related to the rehabilitation of workers so as to affect a harmonious early return to work within a specifically structured program in accordance with the company’s rehabilitation program.
· Maintain a HS&E audit and assessment program for the location.
· Monitor compliance with all relevant legislative requirements including passage of information to managers and employees regarding amendments/ additions to requirements as they come into effect.
· Carry out regular inspections of the work areas with the respective line manager and or HSE representative and prepare reports.
· Disseminate safety information throughout the workplace via bulletin boards, posters, newsletters etc.
· Attend Safety Committee meetings.
· Assist line management and or construction supervisors in accident investigation process and report accordingly.
· Ensure HSE safety inductions are undertaken in accordance with location SMS requirements for all new employees of the company and its subcontractors.
