IT Supervisor

• Leads staff in accomplishing assigned duties, monitoring and evaluating customer
service standards, advising management of work, time and materials needed to correct
problems, planning for future assignments and supply needs
• Assists in conducting needs analysis, researches and recommends hardware and
software systems that meet individual user needs

• Works with hardware and software vendors to obtain support for current systems and in
the purchase of newer forms of technology
• Maintains departmental records covering system installation and maintenance activities
• Supports the Information Services Manager in analyzing emerging technologies that
may have application in the operations

• Coordinates Employee Computer Purchase Program contracts and purchases; primary
buyer for the department
• Performs or supervises systems and user account creation, maintenance, security and
removal.
• Installs and configures (or supervises the installation and configuration of) all forms of
hardware, software and data communications equipment, and provides LAN
administration and periodic maintenance services

• Keeps abreast of software releases and updates for all operating systems, applications
and e-mail to ensure that systems are at a current release level
• Provides user support in all aspects of designated software; troubleshooting problems
and acting as a resource regarding the effective and efficient use of software
• Administers and maintains Microsoft Systems Management software, Storage Area
Network, Microsoft Exchange, Symantec Ghost deployment and migration software, and
others as required
• Administers and maintains helpdesk software and provides (or supervises) helpdesk
support
• Maintains programming, systems, and user documentation to ensure guidelines and
procedures are up to date and complete
• Provides user support in the installation, maintenance and operations of computer
hardware, peripheral and networking equipment; performing the more complex
troubleshooting and repair functions and assisting staff with difficult problems​/​s
• Coordinates the design, development, acquisition and implementation of computer
hardware, software and data communications solutions, and advises management staff
regarding systems and office automation requirements

• Maintains an accurate and up to date inventory of all computer hardware, software, and
peripheral equipment; maintains an inventory and related documentation on all software programs​/​s owned and registered
• Designs and creates written and on-line procedural documentation, instructional
handbooks, operational manuals, and other technical resources for users; ensures
documentation is current
• Develops, implements and administers training systems

Skills

• Word processing, electronic spreadsheets, database and graphics software programs to
include techniques and applications
• Hardware and software technical manuals, training manuals and knowledge bases
including Microsoft (SMS, Windows Server 200 and 2003, Exchange, SQL, Server
Windows XP, MS Office 2003), Symantec (Ghost, Anti-Virus), updates and new releases
• Basic programming and systems analysis; design procedures and techniques
• Standard methods and practices of automating manual office systems
• Standard forms and document formatting​/​n techniques and methods
• Basic computer logic, systems capabilities and limitations
• Basic computer hardware, peripheral and networking equipment configuration and
application
• Principles of leadership and supervision
• Report writing and documentation techniques
• Proper use of English and grammar
• Learning designated and specialized computer hardware and networking equipment and
applications
• Developing logical procedures and coding steps to programming instructions and testing
the validation of program design
• Translating user needs to effective operational programs and systems
• Training groups and individuals with varying degrees in technical subjects in an effective
manner
