• Supervises administrative, professional, and technical employees involved in conducting land surveys; • Testifies in court matters relating to surveys made by the City; • Preserve survey monuments and benchmark controls; • Plans and prepares the division′s annual budget; • Advises supervisor in the development of policies and standards for the Survey Section and the Record Drawing area; • Directs, reviews, and certifies land surveys completed by City personnel; • Works with other City departments to resolve problems related to mapping and surveying; • Monitors expenditures throughout the fiscal year and reviews and approves payments for purchases; • Conducts research through title companies, private engineering firms, and other public jurisdictions; • Performs analysis of cost information and explains it to governmental departments; • Consults with governmental departments to determine needs, recommend services, and recommend most effective way to provide services; • Supervises construction Drafting Technicians in the preparation of record drawings and final quantities for public works projects; • Resolves field problems; • Serves as the liaison between public utilities, contractors, and subcontractors during construction to provide continuity in the assignment of survey crews; • Supervises the preparation and review of contract drawings and documents; • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
• Modern survey principles, methods, techniques, and instruments related to land survey, construction surveys, and public works projects. • Principles, practices, rules, and regulations governing land surveying. • Land surveying and mapping. • Principles and practices of personnel management and supervision. • Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration. • Perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others. • Work cooperatively with others. • Communicate orally in English/c language • Produce documents written in the English language using proper sentence construction, punctuation, grammar, and spelling. • Keep accurate records of survey data. • Enter data or information into a terminal, PC, or other keyboard device. • Travel across rough, uneven or rocky surfaces. • Perform complex mathematical calculations such as calculus, algebra and trigonometry using a calculator or computer. • Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time. • Interpret policies and procedures to staff. • Review and analyze work methods to increase efficiency and productivity.• Must be registered as a Land Surveyor • Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely. • Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions. • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.• Related comport experience in CAD Software or any related surveying software.• Minimum 5 years Experience
