• To install, maintain, identify faults and repair electrical wiring and microchip-based equipment in customer automobiles; including conducting preventative maintenance.• To conduct the maintenance/r of the electrical components of vehicles as per requirements of the MHW and customers and to ensure the efficiency, safety, and timeliness of all maintenance/r activities.Principal responsibilities / accountabilities• Ensures electrical maintenance/r for each vehicle assigned by completing each task on the job card efficiently and within the time allocated.• Diagnoses any electrical problems that have not been addressed by the job card and consults with superior for further instructions.• Adheres to maintenance schedules for vehicles assigned in order to minimize delays and meet deadlines.• Works with computer-controlled engine management and other systems to manage the repair/e of the vehicles electronic/l components.• Identifies and repairs faults on electronically controlled vehicle systems such as electronic fuel injection, electronic ignition, anti-lock braking, cruise control, automatic transmission, air bags and air-conditioning. • Installs electrical equipment such as gauges, lighting, alternators and starter motors in vehicles. • Installs electrically operated accessories such as radios, CD players, heating or demisting equipment, air conditioners, lamps and security systems. • Tests, reconditions and replaces faulty alternators, generators, starter motors and related items such as voltage regulators and batteries as is required. • Installs electrical parts and accessories as required by customers.• Examines electrical units in order to discover loose connections and broken insulation and tighten/r connections to ensure safety and functionality of the vehicle.• Maintains contents of tool kit and ensures all tools used for maintenance and repairs are in proper condition and are functioning effectively, to minimize the potential for damage caused by defective tools.• Monitors the stock of spare parts available and consults with inventory records to ensure the accommodation of the spare part needs of each maintenance/r job.• Conducts tests of vehicles to guarantee their functionality and safety in order to eliminate accidents, injuries, and breakdown.• Ensures work area is always clean and neat to maintain organization, safety, and efficiency of activities.• Coordinates activities with mechanics to ensure consistency and compatibility of any electrical and mechanical additions/s to the vehicle.• Communicates with mechanics to inform them of major changes to the wiring/l devices of the vehicle to ensure safety of operations and quality of services rendered.• Records all maintenance and repairs conducted and updates database for each vehicle for future reference.• Updates and develops knowledge of vehicle electronics in order to consistently deliver optimal service and meet pending challenges.• Follows procedures of reporting on performance, budgets and other reports required from time to time to superior.
