Organizational Relationships:The General Manager – ALS Saudi Arabiareports to the Board – ALS Saudi Arabia and is responsible for the performance of the ALS Saudi Arabian operations.
Primary Objectives:Management of the Saudi Arabian laboratories to ensure financial targets are achieved whilst ensuring compliance and best practise methods are adhered to. Managing business growth through development of sustainable client relationships and the implementation of a marketing strategy.
Position Duties and Scope:The General Manager – ALS Saudi Arabiais responsible for: •Ensure the business is operated according to business and strategic plans.•Ensure legislative and best practise compliance issues are observed.•Adhere to the requirements of the ALS Laboratory Group brand.•Preparing the annual operating budgets for the business units.•Ensure the laboratory achieves budgeted EBITA and growth targets.•Develop a marketing strategy and undertake sales marketing / promotional activities to attain sustainable sample flow into all Saudi Arabian laboratories.•The development of a pricing strategy for the analytical market within the Kingdom including the preparation of quotations and tenders for clientele.•Building a profile and gaining credibility in the Saudi Arabian market as an ALS representative.•Actively maintain industry and market competitor knowledge.•Foster a working environment that aims to increase quality, safety, productivity and efficiency through upgrading technologies, methodologies and processes.•Provide mentoring to direct reports.•Ensure direct reports have the suitable skills and training for the roles they are fulfilling. •Advising on the recommended purchase of capital equipment and preparing Capital Expenditure Proposals as required.•Ensuring that appropriate human resource management practices are developed and maintained.•The submission of a monthly report appropriate to the role.•Other duties related to the successful operation and administration of the Laboratories, as requested by the ALS General Manager.
The General Manager – ALS Saudi Arabiahas the following quality responsibilities:•Ensuring that the quality of analytical data produced is maintained at a level that meets or exceeds company and market acceptable standards.•Ensuring the integrity of the laboratories quality system is maintained and further developed.•Assessing the results of QA/QC audits and implementing improvements as required.
The General Manager – ALS Saudi Arabiahas the following Occupational Health and Safety responsibilities:•To have a profound understanding of the companies safety requirements as set out in the safety manual.•To provide the necessary equipment and environment to ensure safety in the laboratory.•To rectify any unsafe laboratory practice.•Ultimate responsibility for Occupational Health and Safety compliance within the Saudi Arabian laboratory operations.
• Tertiary qualifications - Bachelor of Science (Chemistry preferable).• 7-10 years previous laboratory and/or business experience (3-5 years in a senior role).• Genuine management abilities and demonstrated experience.• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic customer relationships.• A strong understanding of business finance accounting; including preparation of annual budgets and interpretations of profit and loss statements.• Excellent leadership skills.• Excellent organizational skills.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.• A thorough understanding of ISO17025 and its requirements.• General computer literacy skills.
