Chief Accountant required for a leading constructions company in Saudi Arabia. Candidate should have minimum 10-15 years of experience most preferable in construction contracting companies. Should be able to handle the entire accounting activities independently up to finalization of accounts and audit, financial statements, payable, receivable, budget, invoicing, reconciliation.

Responsibilities & accountability:

  • Oversees the daily accounting activities required to maintain the Authority’s general ledger.
  • Receive all incoming supporting documents to accounts department and allocate the supporting documents to the respective accountants and ensure that receiving invoices belong to the accounting period.
  • Ensure that all receiving supporting documents comply with the company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Review and sign all journal entries and payment vouchers to ensure proper coding and accounting direction and proper documentation, as well as adherence to the company policies and procedures.
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations to ensure proper cut offs and to prevent and detect accounting errors on a timely basis.
  • Ensure that bank reconciliations prepared on monthly basis and approved from the authorized level.
  • Maintain a control sheet for all prepaid expenses and prepare the journal entries for the monthly amortization of prepaid expenses to the respective cost centers.
  • When there are unrecorded expenses and liabilities; prepare the monthly journal entries for accrued expenses that have been incurred to a given accounting period but not yet paid for utility bills and wages and salaries.
  • Maintain a control sheet for the outstanding accruals to prevent duplicate recording of expenses.
  • Recording projects billings to ensure right directions for down payments deductions, retentions and receivables.
  • Recording additions and disposals for fixed assets as well as running the monthly depreciation for the fixed assets.
  • Allocation of fixed assets depreciation to projects based on the monthly reports for the actual use of fixed assets.
  • Recording projects revenues based on the percentage of completion.
  • Ensure that there’s a monthly reconciliation of affiliates accounts, and gets the proper approval for the pending amounts from authorized level.
  • Ensure the accuracy of suppliers, subcontractors, advances, retention accounts by following up the payable accountants.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions based on the supplier’s credit terms prepared by payable accountant.
  • Review all petty cash reimbursements for proper documentation and to ensure adherence to petty cash policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with HRD department for payroll and accruals and other governmental expenses to ensure proper accruals for the accounting period.
  • Periodically update employee’s accruals and Indemnity for employees.
  • Review monthly payroll and coordinate with HRD to prevent and detect wrong transactions.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year end close.
  • Coordinate with Auditors in interim and annual audit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required, and reports directly to the Finance Director.

Educational & Competencies requirements:

  • BS degree in Accounting.
  • 10 years’ experience with 5 years with the same role in the same industry.
  • IFRS Knowledge and Knowledge with SOCPA standards is a must .

Required Skills :

  • Good Communication and supervision Skills.
  • ERP experience is a must, Preferable in Oracle Fusion.
  • Good experience in Microsoft office.
