Job Title Mechanic - Heavy Equipment and Hydraulics (TWS)Division / Sector Apex / LogisticsReports to Service Engineer - TWSReported by None
Purpose of the Job (Overall accountability)• To conduct maintenance/r relating to heavy equipment and hydraulics systems, as per requirements of the Service Engineer, to ensure the efficiency and safety of all such equipment / systems.Principal responsibilities / accountabilities• Ensures maintenance for each vehicle / equipment assigned by completing each task on the job card efficiently and within the time allocated.• Determines the nature and extent of repairs required on the job card and performs tasks accordingly.• Troubleshoots malfunctions in the equipment/e and repair in order to guarantee that the repair performed has rendered the equipment/e effective and safe.• Repairs and adjusts hydraulic pumps, safety valves on the vehicles/t effectively so as to ensure proper functionality.• Inspects repairs and adjusts hydraulic systems, injection valves and other systems for all equipment/s to ensure safety and proper operation.• Installs, replaces or adjusts filters, belts, or similar objects to maintain equipment/s.• Performs emergency or incidental welding operations on equipment when necessary and ensures safety gear is utilized during the use of welder.• Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality and seamless customer service.• Adheres to maintenance schedules for vehicles assigned, by the Service Engineer, in order to minimize delays and meet deadlines.• Maintains contents of tool kit and ensures all tools used for maintenance and repairs are in proper condition and are functioning effectively, to minimize the potential for damage caused by defective tools.• Attends to vehicle and/or equipment breakdowns occurring outside of workshop on occasion of emergencies/s in order to expedite the repair process and ensure the safety of the drivers/e operators.• Monitors the stock of spare parts available and consults with inventory records to ensure the accommodation of the spare part needs of each maintenance/r job.• Conducts tests of equipment/s to guarantee their functionality and safety in order to eliminate accidents, injuries, and equipment breakdown.• Ensures work area is always clean and neat to maintain organization, safety, and efficiency of activities.• Records all maintenance and repairs conducted and updates database for each vehicle/t for future reference.• Attends special training and familiarization workshops dealing with innovations in heavy equipment operations, repairs, and maintenance to improve knowledge and skills.• Updates and develops knowledge of vehicle/t mechanics in order to consistently delivery optimal service and meet pending challenges.• Follows procedures of reporting on performance, budgets and other reports required from time to time to the Service Engineer – TWS. Experience/s Essential• Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering• 5 years experience as a Heavy Equipment and Hydraulics mechanic preferably for a reputed logistics/t organization.Desired• The ability to use automotive servicing equipment such as an A/C recycler, hydraulic jack, or emission analyzer.Personal Attributes/sHigh level of• Interpersonal and Relationship Skills• Analytical Skills• Detail Orientation• Coordination Skills• Dexterity and Physical Strength
