- Outpatient Physical Therapists provide care to patients in all medical and surgical specialties for a pediatric, adult, and geriatric population.
- Outpatient Physical Therapists have the opportunity to rotate through outpatient and inpatient Physical therapy areas.
- Work with patients and their families/carers to identify and treat their physical problem.
- Assist patients with joint and spinal problems, including following surgeries.
- Help patients' rehabilitation following accidents, injury, strokes any geriatric acute and chronic illnesses.
- Assist in the supervision and education of student and junior physical therapists and physical therapists support workers.
- Write patient case notes and reports and collect statistics.
- Undertake a comprehensive, highly specialist assessment of all patients within the designated caseload using investigative and analytical skills as an autonomous and advanced practitioner.
- Use assessment tools and outcome measures, which, where possible, are standardized and evidence-based.
- Keep up to date with new techniques and technologies available for treating patients.
- Liaise with other healthcare professionals to exchange information about the background and progress of patients, as well as to refer patients who require other medical attention.
Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy.
• Certificate in OMT or courses equivalent to the OMT program.
• Required Minimum Experience: 3 years’ experience post - graduate as a physical therapist in the outpatient’s setting.
Required Skills:
• Neuromusculoskeletal Physical Therapy clinical skills.
• Possess solid clinical evaluation skills, good communication and problem solving skills, and an interest in community outreach activities and mentor Physical Therapy student or new hires.
• Use audit results, current knowledge, research, evidence-based practice and guidelines to develop and improve clinical practice and service delivery.
• Computer proficiency required.
