Manages the supply chain functions of scheduling, procurement, warehousing, forecasting and transportation for a plant location; Helps location consistently achieve its target customer service levels with a minimum investment in inventories and distribution costs; Works as a communication liaison between location, brand teams, customer service, and logistics in proactively communicating and/or resolving issues related to scheduling and deployment. When absent, the Supply Planner will assume the roles and responsibilities of the Manager of Supply Chain.
Responsibilities.
- Direct the Supply Chain functions of Planning, Scheduling, Procurement, Warehousing and Transportation.
- Work as a communication liaison between the plant, and corporate logistics, customer service, manufacturing platform, and related brand and business teams in proactively communicating and resolving service issues and/or meeting business and customer needs.
- Responsible for a distribution strategy in support of achieving ConAgra’s target customer service levels with a minimum investment in inventories and at the lowest possible cost.
- Oversee the purchasing function in the areas of ingredients, packaging and commodities by assuring continuous supply and optimizing procurement to minimize total costs.
- Oversee inventory of ingredients, packaging and commodities, managing risk of obsolescence versus supply shortage.
- Direct all distribution and logistics activities at the plant and dedicated off-site warehouses including managing labor costs and productivity, inventory levels and accuracy, and stocking strategies. Maintain controls and procedures to ensure optimum use of warehouse locator system to maintain order accuracy and timeliness.
- Work with plant operations to identify opportunities to improve production cycles in order to reduce working capital while also maintaining or lowering total net landed costs.
- Direct the traffic function and take appropriate action to ensure that carriers meet ConAgra requirements.
- Prepare budgets and control costs within established standards.
- Serve as a member of the plant leadership team in support of plant goals.
- Support annual planning process for designated brands/plants.
- Involved in plant trials, cost effectiveness, Research & Development, and vendor certification.
- Maintain raw and finished inventory levels.
- Interact with interplant, food service, and industrial sales to assure maximum customer service.
- Contact outside sources; negotiate raw material and ingredient prices; and new vendor sourcing.
Skills
Requirements:

o A degree in Logistics, Business, or related area; Masters degree is desirable, but not necessary
o Five years supply chain, distribution management, planning or inventory control, or procurement experience in the food or grocery industry.
o Ability to: read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
o Ability to: write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
o Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
o Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commissions
o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
